Last night I checked out Deathbowl to Downtown (narrated by the ever so lovely Chloe Sevigny), a movie about the evolution of Skateboarding from California to New York City in the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s. Delving deeper into the culture of Skateboarding, the film looks at graffiti, lifestyle and changes in urban development in NYC, you’ll meet a few familiar faces and iconic figures along the way such as Futura, Mark Gonzales, Harold Hunter, the founders of Shut Skateboards and Director Larry Clark. Don’t be put off if you’re not really into skating…the raw and never seen before footage of NYC back in the day will definitely keep your attention…spot the neon shorts and Vision Streetwear…they’re everywhere.
