Bank Holiday Weekend has officially started, it’s almost Carnival time. London tomorrow…Urban Nerds > Notting Hill Carnival > Major Lazer Soundsystem. I’ll have lots to post when I’m back on Tuesday, but until then…I’m signing off….you won’t be hearing from me until it’s all over. I was an extra in this film, so excited that I got to be part of it. So watch out for me throughout with my white/blonde hair, especially when I’m dancing. With my parents at the heart of the Northern Soul scene in Stoke back in the 70′s, I got them to teach me some dance moves… who knew they could dance like that! With my dad playing some of his old vinyls. Exciting to see those in the scence are still “Keeping the faith!”
To celebrate the release of Soulboy the film was premiered at King’s Hall in Stoke, which was followed by an all nighter. People travelled from all over the country to watch the film. I can see it becoming a cult classic already!
So, the plot as told to us thus far: 1974. Power cuts, strikes and boot-boy aggro on the terraces. Flares, Chopper bikes and beer at fourteen pence a pint. Joe McCain, 17 and restless, is bored with the flatline tedium of a life that seems like it’s going nowhere. Enter Jane, moving to the beat of a music that Joe’s never heard, a vision of loveliness who opens the door to a whole world of sound, movement and all-nighter dancing at The Wigan Casino – the home of Northern Soul! Swept along on this tide of pulsating dance and lust, Joe finally finds somewhere he belongs and the acceptance and true love he yearns for.
Can’t wait to watch it, the film is being shown at these cinemas.

I went day tripping up north on the weekend. Rare. As I’d never been to Blackpool before I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I found a weird melancholy prettiness… and lots of neon lights.
To celebrate the magazines 30th Birthday the latest issue contains 200 portraits all by legendary photographer Nick Knight. The photographs were all taken in Somerset House at the end of last year and were streamed live online. It’s definately an issue worth picking up.

Candy Wetsuits a brand started up out of passion and gutts.
Candy Wetsuits is the creation of Californian Jill Anjuli Hansen, who’s life has been dedicated to surfing.
The brand was sparked into action when Hansen was at fashion school in LA, living in Newport Beach, when a Japanese wetsuit manufacturer spotted her surfing and asked her to model some of their wetsuits. This was pure bliss to Hansen’s ears after she had previously being refused sponsorship by major surf companies due to her having a punk rock surfer image. Hansen said potential sponsors would tell her ’We need her to be sweet, cute and blond like this,’”
So with the backing of the Japanese manufacturer she started up her own brand: ” Instead of someone telling me what to be or what to do, I’m starting my own brand. I’m sweet but I’m real.”
“Hansen is simultaneously a hard-edged and chill Aloha chick. She learned to glide under the code of respect alongside the boys at Waikiki, so one minute she’ll be wound up about some kook that got in her way and then the next, she gushes over how cute the families and old timer longboarders are at San Onofre beach, one of her favorite spots.” Those contradicting qualities are an asset in her designs that are both sugar and spice—using the sweetest of sweet candy colors like bubblegum pink, cherry red, apple green and grape purple for tough motorcycle jackets and sexy Bond girl bodysuits.
The candy wetsuits will stop everyone on the beach in their tracks, with tight bootie hugging shorts and beautiful bright colours how can you not stare. They not only look amazing but they are custom made in Japan with top shelf Japanese neoprene and manufacturing.
