THE ENGLISH LAUNDERETTE | POP UP SUPPER CLUB | 18 HEWETT ST LDN

“Rekindled forgotten food classics staged in a Launderette, where else?”

The English Launderette opens this Saturday 1st October, for 9 nights of dining (from 6pm). The 6 course Taster Menu will include foods inspired by fond childhood memories (I’m an 80s baby, but we still had Cheese & Pineapple), and will represent the Best of British from the swinging 60′s…

Glass of juice
Cheese and pineapple
Prawn and avocado
The mixed grill
The savoury
Lily Vanilli’s dessert trolley of delight

The night will also feature a ’60s inspired soundtrack, plus the Coin-Op Bar with Vodka & Gin Cocktails.

We’re coming to dine next week, and we’ll make sure to get lots of photos.

Book your place here.

SOFIDONUTS MEETS FREEMAN FROM CTRL…

Who?

Freeman.

What do you do for a living?

Design clothing and such for CTRL.

Talk us through a day in the life of you…

A typical last Monday goes like this I guess, wake up next to my sweet sweet Girlfriend, go to the CTRL headquarters, get a hot Americano, first checking out some internet bullshit to get hyped off the real world again and start multitasking on various CTRL projects, then happily off from work and go swimming with my sweet sweet girlfriend, cook a fancy oriental dinner and some internet stolen art film with the video projector, then sleep with my sweet sweet GF.
Another day would be another story.

What…

Makes you cross?

That thing girls use to sharpen their nails or something, I get creeps from the sound of that thing.

Makes you happy?

Sweet sweet Girlfriend.

Whats…

Your most missed memory?

Flyfishing in Lapland.

The last thing you bought?

Coincidentally, Fisherman’s Friends.

Where’s your favourite place to be?

New York City & random palm trees anywhere with right set up.

I’m very good at…

Finger-work.

But I’d like to be very good at..

Keeping things organized, book keeping, economy, flamenco etc.

Three…

Words you use all the time…

But, butt and taxi.

Most visited websites…

Google, Mr Mort & Evr.com

Most listened to albums…

Walkmen – You & Me, otherwise can’t really say since I rarely have the attention span for a whole album but of all time ever mostest listened: Enter the Wu-Tang.

Top Cities…

NYC, Tokyo and Barcelona.

If you could be answered any question in and interview, what would it be?

You want the cover?

THINGS WE’VE EATEN

This blog, an off-shoot of Adam Tickle’s ‘Things I’ve Seen‘, does exactly what it says on the packet. Each post features an image and (often witty) response to a meal eaten by one of it’s 7 contributors. The idea is basic, and makes perfect sense. Each contributor photographs his meal, consumes it and proceeds to comment on it via the blog. Some meals are slated and others applauded, but mainly it’s a tongue in cheek (and admittedly niche) platform that turns a mundane ritual into an entertaining one. view it HERE

Living With Mother

Generally speaking, it can be hard to find an on-point and original Tumblr that doesn’t just repeatedly re-blog other tumblrs. Which is why this rare jewel of a photo-blog stood out to me. The title pretty much explains it all. In his own words the master mind behind ‘Living With Mother’ posts “pictures of the food i am lovingly served by my mother, and generally discussing the effect both her cooking and her company are having on me”. From the bargain bucket to the classic dinner waffle, this lad endures a slew of unappetizing “meals” that, on a Sunday evening when there is nothing to do but await the X-Factor results show, provides quite a giggle and accompanying “grosss!”. If you’re not too squeamish, take a look here.
