Keep Your Eyes Peeled For… She Monkeys

She Monkeys invites us into the lives of two young girls raised by a single father and demonstrates the challenges adolescent and pre-adolescent girls experience. It makes a firm attempt at considering the issue of growing old to soon, and the types of relationships formed during this stage in a young girl’s life.

The interesting thing about She Monkeys is the objectivity surrounding certain subjects. The majority of opinions on the film, would depend on the viewer’s morals themselves, rather than those of Aschan – she simply tells the story, and does so well. Is it acceptable for a young girl to prance around in a leopard-print bikini? Is it acceptable for a scene like that to even be included in a film in our day and age? Aschan makes an effort to demonstrate feminine strength and beauty, but also displays acts of female independence.

She Monkeys is, in ways, a chilling and intense portrayal of what is otherwise described through films such as Thirteen, as ‘the difficult years’ of a young girl’s life. That said, the symmetry of many scenes and the flow of the story are clean and natural in comparison. Aschan’s presentation is a calm yet striking attempt at telling such experiences in a less flamboyant and destructive way. She Monkeys portrays these years as they should be – an exploration and moment of development, learning and innocence, rather than something that should be frowned upon.

Relentless Energy Drink NASS returns for another year at it’s usual spot amongst the rolling hills of Somerset; Royal Bath and West Showground from the 6-8^th July 2012. Its crazy to believe that NASS is the UK’s only action sport and music festival and is pretty much the only place to witness some of the World’s best Park, Dirt and FMX riding, not to forget skate, all in one spot at once without having to book a plane ticket. Each event will receive increases in prize pots, with notable increases including:

* Skate and BMX ‘Park’ events will both rise from £12,000 to £18,000.

* Relentless Energy Drink ‘Street Spots’ events will increase from £3000 to £5000

The BMX and skate park event will this year only be eligible to athletes via regional qualifiers and pre qualification systems. Keep your eyes peeled for information on these special events, coming to a city near you. It’s something called ROAD TO NASS, I’m sure you have already herd about it going down. It’s already underway, it’s first stop being Scotland working its way down south in the build up to the NASS Weekend. Coffin On Cake PR do press days like no one else I know. They house some of the most unique, desirable and distinctive brands going, and always find creative ways to present the collections when it comes to showing people like us what their brands have got coming up for the next season. It’ll just make you want to own every single item, I sure did. Coffin On Cake have recently relocated into their new showroom, on Redchurch Street, Shoreditch so was the perfect opportunity to show off their new pad.
